FIRST COMPANIONS OF MARY OF THE PASSION
Amongst the early companions of Blessed Mary of the Passion, i.e. those Sisters who left the Society of Mary Reparatrix at the same time she did and joined her in the foundation of the Institute of the Missionaries of Mary were two English women.
The first, Marie de Saint Philippe, (Amélie Benett), was born in Reigate, England, into an Anglican family on 6 July 1926 and converted to Catholicism. She joined the Mary Reparatrix in 1859 and was sent to Madurai in India, where she arrived on 19 December 1861.
The second, Marie Pascal de Saint Alban, (Grace-Mary Pickles), was born in Leeds, on 21 April 1844 into an Anglican family. Shortly after her conversion to Catholicism she joined the Mary Reparatrix in October 1867.
